Have you been a Project or Program Manager for some time? Have you done things the same way project after project? Have you ever felt that project and program management just come easy to you?

Well, I have been a Program Manager for a long time. I practiced program management it based upon the practices I learned early on as I was obtaining the appropriate certifications and credentials. I thought, “this program management and project management thing is easy.”

Then in 2010, I discovered the Agile Manifesto for software development. This manifesto, while primarily developed to improve software engineering practices changed the way I think about management of all things. I began to change the way I think about managing programs and became immersed in agile principles and values. I began to question all the things I had done in the past when managing programs.

My questioning put me on a quest to learn as much as I can. I began to read. As I read and learned, I wanted to share what I was learning with everyone. Initially my wife was the victim, then my co-workers, after some time a co-worker mentioned that I should just put my thoughts and musings out on a blog.

So, here I am… I bring you The Socratic PM. This blog is published with the intention of creating discussions around both Traditional and Agile Program and Project Management.

Welcome to the Socratic PM. Please read the posts and contribute to the discussions.
